The Ross Dress for Less store moving into the former Linens ‘n Things space in Rockford will open Oct. 8.
The discount fashion and home merchandise retailer is opening at 249 Deane Drive, which is near in the Rockford Crossing retail plaza near Perryville Road and East State Street and near other stores like Best Buy and the soon-to-be-closed Borders bookstore. Ross has more than 1,000 stores in 27 states but is breaking into the Illinois market for the first time by opening 12 stores in the Chicago area, including the location in Rockford.
The other new stores that will open the same day are in Algonquin, Arlington Heights, Bloomingdale, Crystal Lake, Matteson, Naperville, Niles, Orland Park, Schaumburg, Skokie and South Elgin.
California-based Ross Stores Inc., the parent company of Ross Dress for Less, is creating about 600 jobs through these store openings. Online applications are being accepted after Aug. 15. Job-seekers should visit the “careers” section on the company’s website.
Ross Dress for Less stores sell brand-name merchandise at savings of 20 to 60 percent off department and speciality store prices. Products include in-season apparel, shoes, accessories and home goods.
