Billionaire, blogger and former “Dancing With the Stars” competitor Mark Cuban says he will go all out to get the Chicago Cubs.

I think my one hangup with Cuban is that Jay Mariotti thinks he would be the perfect Cubs owner.

Then again, Jay’s gotta be right one of these decades, right? At the very least, Cuban’s courting of the Cubs enabled me to shake a billionaire’s hand, in the middle of Murphy’s.

The Cubs picked up a hard-throwing right hander in the draft yesterday. Andrew Cashner was the 19th selection of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft.

The 21-year-old just finished his junior season at Texas Christian University.

Scouts say his fastball is consistently in the mid-90s, topping out at about 98. He has decent control (80 strikeouts vs. 27 walks) and could be a starter or a reliever.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see this guy in the big leagues before Jeff Samardzija, who is 10-18 with a 4.62 ERA in his three-year minor league career.
