Are you watching the game?

That’s what Sports Editor Randy Ruef asked me a couple of minutes ago as I was pondering the complexities of politics in Illinois.
He wanted me to watch the Cubs-Braves game because the telecast was being done as it was in 1948 — in black and white with limited camera angles.
Today is a “throwback” game, and usually that just means the teams will wear uniforms from that era. But WGN is showing the game the old-fashioned way, including having its announcers and camera people don garb that fit the era.
It’s pretty neat, but after a couple of plays I was longing for the multiple views a modern telecast gives me.
Now back to politics …
