Lennie Merullo (1941), one of Mike Royko’s favorite punching bags; Calvin Coolidge Julius Caesar Tuskahoma McLish (1951), one of baseball’s greatest recorded names; and Mike Vail (1978-80), dealt to the Cubs for “Tarzan” Joe Wallis and sent away for Hector “Heity” Cruz, wore today’s featured digits proudly.

Also, love it when the Cubs take on the “step on their throat” mentality, especially with sub-.500 teams such as the Pirates.
