…if you thought the Cubs winning game 1 was a sure thing.
Don’t lie. You did. I did. Everyone did.Â
All the worry and scepticism was reserved for Carlos Zambrano pitching in game 2.
And the four runs the Dodgers scored on James Loney’s grand slam wasn’t the most alarming number. Grand slams happen, just ask Jason Marquis. No one expected Dempster to walk seven batters in 4 2/3 innings. As the TBS commentators pointed out, Dempster allowed seven walks in the entire month of September.
In 33 regular season starts, the most walks Dempster issued in one game was six. But that was over six innings.

Cough! Ack! Choke! The Cubs are doing what they know best, and that’s disappointing their fans. Can they come back? That remains to be seen. If they don’t, what else did you expect?

7 walks. Any pitcher at any level would have been pulled. 7 walks. Lou your boys were swinging at garbage. 7 walks. Lou pull the pitcher. He is a tip: If Zambrano walks 3 in the first 2 innings, yank him.

Echoes, absolutley.
A friend of mine made a point today that not only should have Demspter been pulled when he loaded the bases for the second time, but they should have brought in Carlos Marmol to clean up his mess. Who cares what inning it was.
It’s the playoffs, nothing should be held back. That being said, I would feel much better if Ted Lilly was pitching tonight.
