Recycle your tires and …

Winnebago County has announced a used tire recycling initiative where folks can drop off tires at the highway department the first weekend in October. Not something you think about every day, and while my dad is handy, I’m the kind of girl who pays the tire place to recycle mine.
Still, glad to see local progress on this front.
UPDATE: You can recycle metals and clothes, too.

i was wondering if you knew of a place we can dispose of old electronics? i hate to just throw them in the trash when parts may be able to be recycled. please let me know if you have any ideas.

I have a call in to Computers for Schools, (815) 316-4580, but I think that’s still in operation. http://webs.rps205.com/departments/IT/donated.html
Beyond that, there are numerous cell phone recycling programs.
What in particular do you want to recycle? That would help.
FYI, Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful also holds electronics recycling drives. (815) 637-1343 or http://www.knib.org/metals.php ,,, I think one was just last weekend! http://www.rrstar.com/homepage/x1196566412/Gather-up-old-electronics-metal-based-items-for-recycling
