A wind farm in the works

We’ve had a wind farm proposal in Boone. Yep. And there’s the most visible one (to me) off I-39 near Paw Paw.
Now there’s a plan to put one in western Winnebago County. Interestingly enough, there’s concern that they could conflict with the migratory pattern of the endangered whoopers. So there are conflicting environmental interests: wildlife vs. cleaner energy. See our photos from each below.
Maybe more later about the pros/cons of wind farms.

Hi,
I came across your blog while searching for some reference material on alternative fuels. I like the two snaps you have posted here. Being supporter of the Go Green Movement, I like to read what others have to say on this matter.

It’s ridiculous that there is so much opposition to wind farms. I travel past Paw paw all the time and I am amazed at the ingenuity of these devices that produce ‘free’ power.
The way I see it, those whoopers are able to believe that an ultralight aircraft is their mother. All we’d need to do is put models of the windmills near where they learn to fly and they’ll just accept them as another form of plant life.
