Take a walk. A Garden Walk
Add comment May 5th, 2009
Spring is here, and soon the results of your toiling in the yard will reap results.
With that in mind, get ready for Garden Walk 2009, a free, self-guided tour of 10 gardens in the Rockford area, brought to you by the Council of Rockford Gardeners. Rain or shine, the walk will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17.
About 1,200 gardeners attended last year. This year’s locations will be announced June 5.
Maria Diemer sent me a release saying the tour highlights gardening of every variety, including “eclectic, traditional, country, old world, containers, vegetables, herbs, grasses, perennials, hostas, water features, statuary, garden art and koi ponds. Gardens large and small. Sun and shade. New and old.”
This year’s theme is “green,” including rain barrels and a SolarCone composting system.
On the day of the walk, you can find maps at these headquarters: Pepper Creek, Poska, and Town and Country Feed and Garden.
Brochures will be available at Arte Verde, Benson Stone, Didier Greenhouse, Gensler Gardens, Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden, Pepper Creek and Poska in the Rockford area.
