In case you missed the green business story of the week, dozens of businesspeople from around the world are descending upon Rockford for the Global Resource Corp. demonstration of the Patriot-1, which converts old tires into oil and natural gas. The New Jersey-based company built its prototype at Ingersoll Production Systems. CEO Eric Swain said:

“The ultimate goal is for this technology to make such a significant contribution that it motivates the world’s business and political leaders to embrace it as the de facto standard for processing waste materials.”
