In Chambers
The judge will see you now. Step into Springfield Bureau Chief Aaron Chambers’ chambers for an insider’s view on Illinois politics and government. No, Chambers isn’t a real judge. At least not in the sense of wearing a robe, wielding a gavel and issuing orders. But like a good judge, Chambers tells it like it is.

Quit working and play a game!

With just 26 days till Illinois’ primary election, are you ready?

It seems like non-stop campaign coverage started almost a year ago after President Bush’s 2007 State of the Union address. So if you don’t know the issues by now, well, it’s ok because you still have a little time to catch up.

If you want to try a quick-and-dirty approach to sort through the quagmire of issues, perhaps you should consider a presidential matching quiz. There are many varieties online. My favorites are from SelectSmart and USA Today, but here’s a list of others.

With all of the resources — the Internet, television, and oh yeah, print — out there today, it is hard to think of a reason to be uninformed for what some are calling the most important presidential campaign in decades.

If nothing else, you could waste a little time on this lovely Friday afternoon and then have your happy mood crushed when you find out you are a close match with Sens. Mike Gravel or Duncan Hunter.

Either way, TGIF!

Schools will finally get their money

House lawmakers on Thurdsday accepted changes that Gov. Rod Blagojevich made to the budget implementation bill.

Senate lawmakers had already accepted them.

And that means schools will finally get their money.

Finally.
