In Chambers
The judge will see you now. Step into Springfield Bureau Chief Aaron Chambers’ chambers for an insider’s view on Illinois politics and government. No, Chambers isn’t a real judge. At least not in the sense of wearing a robe, wielding a gavel and issuing orders. But like a good judge, Chambers tells it like it is.

Nation’s ‘Worst’ Guv Not in Illinois?

Nevada Democrats are trying to claim the title of “worst governor” for their very own Jim Gibbons …

The state Democratic Party has launched a Web site asserting that Jim Gibbons is “America’s Worst Governor.” […]

The party has cobbled together multiple press clippings documenting some of Gibbons’ gaffes, including the tax scandal he’s now embroiled in over a piece of property he owns in the Elko area and what Democrats have labeled text gate, referring to how he sent hundreds of text messages to a female friend.

“Everything is documented, because we couldn’t make this up – obviously,” said Travis Brock, the executive director of the Nevada Democratic Party, in a conference call this afternoon with reporters.

The clever site is here.

But can the Nevada Dems move so fast to claim the crown?

The real irony being is that Illinois Democrats make the argument about Blagojevich along with the Republicans.

I had a hard time believing than anyone could be worse than Blago, but after visiting the “Worst Governor” site, I must admit that Gibbons seems to be a strong contender for the title.

Swearing himself in at midnight because of “national security concerns”? Newspapers calling for him to resign only one month into his term? The FBI actually had him under investigation BEFORE he got elected governor. He’s only been in office 18 months and he’s already at least a couple of sex scandals, slush funds and flip-flops ahead of Blago (as far as we know).

However, it does not appear that he’s done the kind of long-term fiscal damage to his state that Blago has (at least not yet). And, he had a better excuse for avoiding the governor’s mansion.

Let the FBI take care of the Nevada guy, hke isn’t hurting us at all but BLAGO on the other hand should have been trhown out of office a long time ago. But there is seemingly no backbone in the state legislature and very little common sense.

Don’t you wonder why the Register Star backed him when he first ran for office? He was going to make Rockford wealthy with grants.
