Comments on: Low Gas Prices in Rockford?

Rock River Valley manufacturing experts discuss the many facets of manufacturing: technology, education, training, events, people and any other aspects of this important segment of our economy. They’ll use this blog to get the word out and solicit feedback on local and global manufacturing. They hope to better engage our employers, employees and our future work force and increase their understanding of manufacturing.

Yes, they have all lived with higher gas (petro) prices than we have for a long time. Must be the taxes that support more social costs.

Funny thing is, they've developed other transportation means than cars, like trains and bikes.

Another funny thing is that Ford announced yesterday that they are retooling three truck plants in the U.S. to bring in cars designed and presumably operating, from Europe. Do you suppose they are also more fuel efficient than those designed and operated here in the US?

It's all relative. We've built our economy and way of life on gas prices below $4 a gallon (heck, below $3 a gallon) while the UK has built its economy around higher gas prices.

It doesn't tell the whole story to simply compare prices, it's the sudden increase that's the story.

But you're right in that the U.S. is moving closer to what most of the world experiences, so it puts it in some perspective.
