Bad-Worse to Better?

Earlier in my pre-Rockford career, I was involved with corporate “turnarounds”…you know, come in and fix a company.
Well the pros in this industry used to say..”when you come in, make sure everyone knows how bad it is and how much drastic action needs to be taken”. Then, in the background, we would prepare the plan for salvation and then look like heroes for keeping the company from closing.
Sounds devious? Not really, it’s called “managing the expectations”.
Sound familiar with today’s environment? To me, yes.
I remember when Clinton was elected…the next day the world was better, the economy was improving because people believed that it was. Yet, not long after, it was stated that the economy had turned the corner and was on the rise.
I hope that’s what we hear next Wednesday morning.
