March 18th is the Annual Manufacturers Appreciation Dinner and Expo. If you haven’t already registered, I would encourage you to do so.
There are several reason to come and celebrate with your manufacturers…
We will recognize the winners of the Individual and Company Awards for their outstanding work in this industry.
We will have technology expo and the Winnebago Robot team will be there with their robot.
We will have an industry expert in the Mars Exploration project as our principal speaker.
Lastly, we have a number of students from several regional high schools attending…what a great way to show them what we offer as a career. You may also consider sponsoring a student as part of our efforts to encourage our youth to enter manufacturing as a career.
Additionally, you may take advantage of being a sponsor at a low cost.
Thank you for your support,
See the attached flyers for further information.
We look forward to seeing you Wednesday!

When I read this story in the Times, UK, it reminded me of what I often hear…”we don’t make anything anymore”. As you read this story, just replace “UK” with “US” and you have much the same story as if it were written or spoken in the US.

I know this is a manufacturing Blogg but any of you who know me know that I spend lots of effort trying to keep manufacturing in this region! I believe this topic is directly related…lately Macy’s, Target and Home Depot posted big losses. I don’t shop at Wal-mart for a laundry list of reasons, one of them is I want choice! If the American public is not careful we are going to lose that great freedom and you might say privilege CHOICE! The same news article mentioned that 1,000’s of stores and restaurants would probably close this year, 2009!
Last night we rushed over to Maria’s so that we could be sure to get a table for four for dinner. Didn’t have to rush! Same thing happened last Friday night when we went to Lino’s. Last Saturday night friends invited us to meet them at an East State Chain. Thom and I had not been there because we pretty much frequent locally owned restaurants. It had a long wait and was loud! These two incidents make me want to say if you have a favorite local eating establishment take some $$$ and spend it there—soon! Here are a few of mine Hoffman House, der Rathskellar, Irish Rose, Stockholm Inn, Maria’s, Lino’s, Chocolate by Daniel, DiGiovanni’s—-send me a few of yours! You could think the same about other local businesses like Nicholson Hardware. I encourage you to let the fewer dollars you are spending speak for CHOICE in 2009!
