Nothing to do about Manufacturing, but a lot to do about our future youth.
Today, we attended the graduation ceremonies for our grand-daughter who graduated from Prairie Ridge H. S. in Crystal Lake. What a wonderful experience to see my only grand-daugher completing a successful 4 years that included a still ongoing run at a possible championship run in the womens’s softball tourney.
The ceremonies were held indoors due to the likely rain, and unfortunately, the sound system wasn’t all that great. Some good speches from all those that you would expect. The main words that did come through loud and clear were from the school Principal who quoted someone that said:
“It’s not what you get from life as much as what you do“, i.e. doing is more important than getting.Â
I hope these graduates understood what he said;
I know I did.

It’s bad enough that the state government is looking to raise personal income and corporate taxes, now comes a suggestion that the feds may put a sales tax on everything in order to pay for all the stimulus, bailout, medical and all the other monies they are doling out.
Before you know it, we’ll be just like European countries!  Tax

Credit Card company effects Small Business—I am sure all of you have had some contact with your credit card companies in these “interesting” financial times! The following article tells about Advanta Credit Cards. They are one of the largest small business credit card companies….I have to admit they are the primary card for my company. It was pretty surprising, yesterday, to find out that everyone’s card won’t work after this week-end! Just another aggravation to small business! After 18 years of use, in three days, we get to remember every account it is attached to. Sigh! I am one of 1 Million small companies having to do this this week….I guess I am in great company!?

Some are fighting everyday to keep manufacturing healthy in our USA while others seem to be fighting everyday to weaken it! Just see Blogs’ from Bob this week! I want to celebrate two neat things directly related to manufacturing and the Rockford Region in particular! During the Hubble Telescope Repair I could see parts purchased by the Goddard Space Center and Made in Rockford! Yesterday, in Washington State, Boeing started the engine of the 1st 787 off the assembly line—-at least one Hamilton Sundstrand electrical engineer was on board to listen to the success of our great HS facility plus the work of many small companies that put parts on that plane! YEA! Think about what your companies parts are doing and where they are working right NOW! I am proud of manufacturing—-those who design and make the parts as well as those who are fighting everyday to keep manufacturing here in this USA!
