Small Businesses Face Big Bite - #2

2 comments July 15th, 2009

Here is a further clarification regarding the earlier blog….

The tax on those businesses who do not provide insurance to their employees is in addition to the small business surtax. The small business surtax is essentially the extra tax small business owners will pay on their individual income tax. As you know, most small business owners organize as S corps, sole proprietorships, etc. and pay individual taxes, not corporate taxes. The proposed Democrat health care bill is partially paid for with an income tax increase of between 1 and 5 percent on Americans earning above $250,000, many of which are small business owners. The concern is we are raising taxes on the segment of our society – the small business owners – who are most likely to create new jobs and pull us out of this recession. If you are trying to create jobs, why would you increase costs on job creators of our economy?
