Fundraiser for Manufacturing and Education Scholarships Saturday

Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois will be holding its first annual Goodwill Share-A-Smile Celebration Fundraiser, which will be held Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Chicago-Rockford International Airport from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
The fundraiser will enable Goodwill to award two new scholarships for further education for those in need in our community, enabling them to build a better future for themselves, their families, and the community as a whole. The scholarships to be introduced and funded through this fundraiser are:
• Jon Lundin Scholarship, to be awarded to a student interested in manufacturing. Jon Lundin was a local historian who brought entrepreneurship to the Rockford manufacturing and business community. He was also the previous President of Goodwill - Abilities Center.
• DoAnn Geiger Scholarship, to be awarded to an individual with a disability interested in further education. DoAnn Geiger is the founder of Northwestern Illinois Special Olympics and a long time board member of Goodwill – Abilities Center.
