Using a Media Research Provider
Add comment October 10th, 2008
Back in the old days of public relations, one of the most time consuming and ongoing tasks was to build media lists. Editors and journalists come and go, and updating these lists with the correct information is a job in itself. But now there are companies who take on that task for you, so you can always find the appropriate contact at the outlet you are looking for.
How else can media research providers be helpful? Building targeted lists is now easy to do. Finding the business editors for agri-business publications, or looking up a list of healthcare reporters at major national newspapers has never been so easy. Most services will also tell you the circulation size, distribution statistics, and other contact info for each publication as you pull it up.
So save your interns’ time this year with making nonstop phone calls to everyone on your existing list to check if that editor is still around, and let them do the good stuff instead!
