Matt grew up on a farm in northwestern Minnesota with six brothers (who all wrestled) and one sister (who didn’t). He has worked for newspapers in North Dakota, Delaware, Vermont, Washington, D.C., and Iowa City. Like a sportswriting Goldilocks, Matt found the farm too small and the cities too big, but Rockford just right. He moved here in 1990 and lives with his wife and four daughters (they don’t wrestle either). He loves Bob Dylan, the Minnesota Twins, golf, softball and arguing sports. His family loves none of these, but likes him anyway.
