When film critic Will Pfeifer isn’t watching movies, he’s reading about movies, talking about movies, thinking about movies or dreaming about movies. Now he shares that unhealthy obsession with you. From Hollywood hits to Japanese obscurities, from Oscar night to the summer season, he’s got movies on the brain — and on this blog.

Movie Man, who decides the prizes, then? What kind of rinky-dink outfit starts a contest and doesn't tell you what you win?

Even if I don't win, can I get an autographed pic?

That's a great comment coming from a co-worker. But nonetheless true. Movie reviewers, along with editorial cartoonists and anything else that can be bought from syndication, are rapidly disappearing from today's newspapers. And they wonder why readers are disappearing?

Just reading the Movie Man is prize enough. Do you know how many major metro newspapers would KILL to have Pfeifer on their staffs? And I'm not talking just U.S. papers either.

Give Adam a prize, Movie Man. You owe him. If you give him his prize, I will support you and your Oscar contest, despite the writer's strike.

Sweet: Well, naturally that'd be your right as a reader and/or advertister. As for me, by following the Oscars and writing about them, I don't see how I'm financially (or spiritually) supporting the studios over the writers. I read some blogs written by striking writers, and even they're talking about the Oscars. It's the big story in Hollywood at this time of year, no matter how you look at it.

Hunt: I don't have anything to do with lining up the prizes, but if it's an autographed picture of me, I expect a BIG drop off in entries!

Adam
you can have my certificate.
I tied for first last year and lost on the running time estimate.
The winner got an iPod. I got a certificate!

Sweet, I think a FAR more important question is, how can someone start a contest and not tell people what the prize will be? I would hope it is at least an autographed picture of the Movie Man.
