When film critic Will Pfeifer isn’t watching movies, he’s reading about movies, talking about movies, thinking about movies or dreaming about movies. Now he shares that unhealthy obsession with you. From Hollywood hits to Japanese obscurities, from Oscar night to the summer season, he’s got movies on the brain — and on this blog.

I was just telling someone about "The Pillow Book" and looked up some reviews. I hadn't realized that it, too, was directed by Peter Greenaway ("The Cook, etc."). Interesting.

If you count Storefront Cinema as a Rockford theater, I'd have to say "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" or "The Pillow Book" were probably the strangest. I liked them both, but really, really different. "Hedwig" also had Michael Pitt, by the way. If you mean only in Kerasotes theaters—or what are now Kerasotes, I'll have to think about that one. Maybe “Ravenous”—kind of a combo Donner Party/Wendigo tale. Gotta say, it kept my interest, but very different. Those, at least, are the first ones that pop into mind. No doubt I’ll think of others later. I would agree with you on "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover" but I only saw it on DVD.
