When film critic Will Pfeifer isn’t watching movies, he’s reading about movies, talking about movies, thinking about movies or dreaming about movies. Now he shares that unhealthy obsession with you. From Hollywood hits to Japanese obscurities, from Oscar night to the summer season, he’s got movies on the brain — and on this blog.

I loved it. It has excellent performances & direction and had the overall fun aspect that seems to be missing from other recent comic book adaptations.

I really enjoyed Batman Begins and Superman Returns a few summers ago, They were well made, exciting, and dramatic. But my one problem with both films is that aspect of fun. It's non-existent. The overall tone of those films is so dour that repeated viewings are a bit of a chore.

And then the Fantastic Four films came out and went in the other direction too much. They are just so cheesy and dumb. A waste of some great characters.

I think Iron Man got back to the tone of the first two Superman films w/Christopher Reeve and really balanced the dramatic and comedic perfectly. Can't wait to see it again.

LOVED it. Not only is it a great comic book movie (and a strong contender for the top spot), it's just a great movie, period.
My full review is here, if anyone is interested.

Also, just reported today is Marvel's full plans for the future of Iron Man and Avengers:

April 30, 2010 - IRON MAN 2
June 4, 2010 - THOR
May 6, 2011 - CAPTAIN AMERICA
July 2011 - THE AVENGERS

I thought it was fantastic. The role really was tailor made for Robert Downey Jr. Definitely worth seeing on the big screen. Also if you stay past the credits there is a bonus scene that hints at the sequel or the Avengers movie youu posted about earlier. I don't want to spoil it so I'll leave it at that. I don't know what your favorite comic book movies are but I thought it was better than most right behind Batman Begins and Spiderman 2.
