More Anderson analysis

Here’s part four of Matt Zoller Seitz’ examination of the movies of Wes Anderson, switching from the cinematic to the literary with a look at Anderson and J.D. Salinger.
By the way, last week I linked to an Onion review of THE IRON GIANT and mentioned how, like virtually everyone who commented on the review, I get teary-eyed at the end of that movie when the robot says “Superman.” Well, THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS (starring Gene Hackman, above) has a similar effect on me. Near the end, when Chas (Ben Stiller) says to his father (Hackman) “I’ve had a rough year, dad,” it always gets me choked up.
