Movie Man
When film critic Will Pfeifer isn’t watching movies, he’s reading about movies, talking about movies, thinking about movies or dreaming about movies. Now he shares that unhealthy obsession with you. From Hollywood hits to Japanese obscurities, from Oscar night to the summer season, he’s got movies on the brain — and on this blog.

Friday Afternoon Videos: A trio of trailers

October 23rd, 2009 at 04:28pm Will Pfeifer

Things have been busy here at the News Tower today, so I apologize for the lack of postings. But here, to make up for it, are some great horror-themed (well, sort of) trailers.

First, Mel Brooks’ YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN…

Next, Francis Ford Coppola’s BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA, which was supposedly pulled because it was too bloody and scary for unsuspecting audiences…

And finally, George A. Romero’s DAWN OF THE DEAD, which is still pretty intense even though it hides that movie’s landmaking blood and gore…

That Dracula teaser was NEVER pulled for being too intense, bloody , or scary. Just another made-up rumor.
Heck, I when I worked in a mall video store, for almost a month leading up to this film’s release we had a tape that ran on a loop featuring this film, including behind-the-scenes footage and this exact teaser trailer. It played on all the tv’s both inside the store and facing into the mall.

p.s. The recent remake of Dawn of the Dead is about 1000 times better than the old one.
