Here’s the latest episode of the Rockford Register Star’s “Mad Men” podcast, featuring Billy Kulpa, Sean Driscoll, Melissa Westphal and yours truly discussing our favorite show about advertising folks in the mid 1960s. This week’s episode examines Don’s trip out west and the bad news he gets there along with his return to the Big Apple and the unusual way he and Lane Pryce choose to ring in 1965.

This week’s What We Watched includes a recap of “Get Him to the Greek,” conflicting opinions on “Public Enemies” and, for reasons we still can’t figure out, a discussion of the notorious chick flick “Somewhere in Time,” starring Christopher “Superman” Reeve and Jane “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” Seymour.

This week, Chris Soprych and yours truly talk about all things “Jaws” related, inspired by his viewing of the classic original and my viewing of the much-less-classic sequel, “Jaws: The Revenge.”

This week’s podcast features yours truly, Movie Man Will Pfeifer, and movie fan Chris Soprych talk about the movies they’ve seen recently, including:

A rave review of “Toy Story 3,” complete with admissions of two grown men crying…
Why the Nazi zombie movie “Dead Snow” isn’t as good as it could be, given that it’s, well, a Nazi zombie movie…
And plenty of jokes about “The Karate Kid,” both old and new.

And if you saw these movies — or any others, for that matter — tell us in the comments section.

Now that the “Lost” podcasts (along with “Lost” itself, of course) come to an end, we’re launching a new weekly podcast to fill the pop culture void. Each Monday morning, movie fan Chris Soprych and I will discuss the movies we watched over the last few days. This week’s eclectic selection includes “Public Enemies,” “St. Elmo’s Fire,” “Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure,” “Stolen” and the 1966 Adam West “Batman” movie. We hope to continue this each week and bring in some special guests to keep the discussion interesting.
Listen here, then use the comment section to share your thoughts — and tell us what you watched, too.

Last night’s episode of LOST went way back to examine the story behind Jacob and the Man in Black. A questionable choice for one of the last episodes of the entire series, but I guess the creators thought they had to answer a few questions. As you’ll soon here (assuming you listen to the podcast), we liked the answers OK but weren’t thrilled with how the information was delivered.
One thing we can all agree on, though: If you’re stuck on a desert island, whatever you do, don’t trust Emmy winner Allison Janney.

And remember, only two episodes to go…

If you watched last night’s episode of LOST, you know some big things happened. If you didn’t watch it, I’m not going to spoil your fun here.
Instead, give the episode a look then check out our podcast, which can be found here. Warning: There are plenty of spoilers, both at the link and in the audio.
In the meantime, check out this trailer for THE LAWNMOWER MAN, featuring a (very) dated look at virtual reality and, in LOST-related matters, a much younger Jeff Fahey — aka Frank, the likeable pilot.

LOST creators Damon Lindelof (left) and Carlton Cuse pose with a polar bear in this black velvet painting.Â
The fact that LOST was a rerun this week didn’t stop us from yakking about the show — and including some extra-special bonus content to boot. Besides a rundown of all the LOST mysteries that haven’t been solved yet, we’ve got an actual audio interview with LOST co-creator Carlton Cuse conducted by Ask Geo columnist Georgette Braun.
