Next Rockford, a group of young professionals actively involved in a number of key regional initiatives, announced today that it is supporting the upcoming bond referendum from the Rockford School District. If it passes, the referendum will allow the district to issue $139 million in bonds to fund much-needed repairs and upgrades to district schools. The group also has donated $5,000 to the Better Schools Brighter Future committee that is organizing the campaign to support the referendum.
“It is critical that we improve our schools now and give our children a 21st century learning environment,” says Next Rockford Facilitator John Groh. “This is a vital investment in our community’s future. The district’s 10-year facilities plan is detailed, well-thought out and provides for comprehensive upgrades without raising taxes.”
Many Next Rockford members are active in education initiatives and several members are working on the referendum committee. Learn more about the referendum campaign at www.betterschoolsbrighterfuture.com
