Rep. John Cabello, running for 68th House District and John Ekberg, Winnebago County Board Member running for the new 15th District seat on the board, have both endorsed Next Rockford’s platform of advocating for improvements in the region’s business environment; education; urban development; cultural offerings; and civic engagement.
Next Rockford recently began this new initiative to encourage elected officials and candidates to support the organization’s platform. The platform endorsement process was developed to educate public officials on issues of importance to the Next Rockford membership and encourage them to advocate on the group’s behalf. Information and the endorsement form can be found on the group’s website at http://www.nextrockford.org/index.php?page=government-affairs
“We are actively seeking candidates and elected officials who share our group’s vision for the Rockford region,” says Frank Haney, Next Rockford facilitator. “We are focused on a number of key areas and are pleased that Rep. Cabello and Board Member Ekberg are the first two officials to sign on to the platform.”
Next Rockford members are working on numerous issues including promoting economic revitalization and industry diversification; helping grow area businesses and attract new business; developing a thriving public school system; encouraging investment in the downtown region; supporting arts and cultural initiatives; and encouraging civic engagement and volunteerism.
