At the last General Membership meeting of Next Rockford there was a presentation and discussion on a hot topic critical to the city of Rockford, the surrounding region, and equitable neighborhoods which affects the quality of life and opportunity for all.  Ron Clewer, CEO of the Rockford Housing Authority, spoke to the organization about the Choice Neighborhoods proposal (https://camiroschoice.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/1-7-ellis-heights-choice1.pdf), affordable housing strategies, and neighborhood equality as well as the impact of these issues on the Rockford region’s economic growth and attractiveness.







Additionally, there was updates on:
– A World In Motion STEM program at Floberg elementary.

– Rock Valley Trustee election

– Downtown Development

– Rockford University Promise

– Transform Rockford


Next Rockford exists to…..
– Connect Generational Leaders to one another.

– Educate our generations on the issues important to the community and to individual members.

– Once we are connected and educated, successfully advocate for issues important to our generations, members, and community.

The next meeting of Next Rockford will be on March 12 at 7:30am where the organization will conduct a public forum with the candidates for Rock Valley College Board of Trustees.  Rock Valley College will host at the Student Center Auditorium.
