I agree that it is time for Clark Kent to leave Smallville and settle in Metropolis. But, the series' name would have to be changed to Metropolis as Clark would no longer be living in Smallville and it is the story of Clark in Smallville, rather than in Metropolis. The writers could have added some realism to the story by having Clark continue in university part time and be taking journalism as Chloe is doing. I wonder how many major ctty newspapers hire people without degrees or diplamss in Journalism. Not many very many, I wuld think. Clark should get his journalism degree before being hired by the Daily Planet as so should have Lois Lane. But, since Clark is still on the farm, there is no reason why he could not have been taking a journalism degree one course or two at a time as Chioe is doing. That would add some realism to a series is that is a fanatsy. I fee that Chloe would be a better match for Clark than Lios as she is a real true friend who self-sacrifically helps Clark as his side kick. Lois is still too immature for a deep reomance with Clark. But, I agree that she is better than Lana for Clark. The producers restriction on Clark not flynig prevents him from becoming Superman. I had hoped Kara would help him learn how to fly. But, it seems that the writer's strike prevented that story line from beng included thus far. I really like the introductoin of Kara as the future Supergirl. I like Laura Vandervoort in the role who is so beautiful and so right for the role. The story in two episodes with Clark's biological mother, Lara, were so good that I had wished she could have become a regular charracter on Smalliville or at least have met Martha Kent. But, Annette O"Tootle's departure prevented that. I must say, Smallville, hardly seems to be Smallivlle without either of the two Kent parents living on the Kent farm, with Jonathan being dead and Martha being in Washington.. Clark seems to feel some sort of obligation to Jonathan Kent to continue managing the farm personally. That could be one of his reasons besides Lana for not wanting to leave Smallville for Metroplois. He clearly is not ready to become Superman. But, when he does, Smallville as a series will have to end because it is not about Superman, but about Clark BEFORE he becomes Superman. I do hope that the producers have him donning the SIperman costume and flying when the series ends.
