McCarthy, who?

Today, there’s this story about McCarthy proving his critics wrong.
Back on Jan. 12, 2006, I posted this to my personal blog … (What a difference two years can make.)

Mike McCarthy will return to the Green Bay Packers. The first time around — a one-year stint in 1999 — he was the quarterback coach under Ray Rhodes. This time, he’ll be the head coach.
I am not quite sure what to think about the news. I don’t even remember him from that 8-8 season, which got Rhodes fired. And I still don’t think the decision to fire Mike Sherman the day after their last game was the right one. But I’ll give McCarthy a chance.
And, of course, I’ll support this decision more if Brett Favre comes back for one more year.
One more year …
One more year …
Please, Brett — if you’re reading this — please.
