I realize that I start off too many of my posts with, “It’s been a while.” or something along those lines, so today I will just skip that part since it’s pretty clear I’ve been missing in action for quite some time. (I guess this whole introduction defeats that purpose…)
I’ll start by saying that nothing has changed in my untimeliness when I write these posts. I really should be working on homework right now, but I’ll get to it as soon as I’m done. After all, it is summer, isn’t it? With a part-time job, a part-time internship, two summer classes and an online class that I’m still struggling to finish, this summer isn’t very resemblant of past summers.
I have made time, however, to make two trips out to Magic Waters. It’s so different being a guest in the park than an employee, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I even braved the Double Dare Drop after being convinced by my younger cousins it was a good idea! I’ve managed to find time to relax by the pool and spend time with friends now that we’re all home from college for the summer.
With summer being almost half over (it’s okay…don’t cry yet!), there are still a few things around town that I would really like to do. One of those is to visit the city market. My mom and I only got a chance to go once last summer and I’ve heard a lot of great things about the vendors this year. There are even vendor videos posted on YouTube highlighting a different vendor or two each week!
Since I will be home this fall instead of back in Champaign, I’m also really looking forward to On the Waterfront. I haven’t been in the past few years, but am definitely planning on going this year. The butterfly fries and apple fritters are calling my name!
The most important thing I would like to accomplish this summer is…drumroll please…finishing my classes, starting my last semester of college and getting a decent start on job hunting. With a degree in advertising, I’m not so sure what exactly I want to do, but the time is coming where I’ll have to figure it out! Hopefully as things slow down, I will have more time to dedicate to the blog and experience Rockford as a young adult on her way to college graduation!
Happy reading!
