After Governor Pat Quinn’s visit with the Register Star Editorial Board last night, board members Wally Haas and Mary Kaull join me on the podcast to discuss their impression of the meeting.

The general consensus? Quinn is a genuine guy who honestly cares about Illinois’ welfare.

Even if you’re not into politics, this is a good listen. Wally and Mary do a nice job of laying out what’s wrong with Illinois and why, consequently, Quinn may not be around after this term as he tries to fix things.

“Does the candidate with the most yard signs usually win?”

Spent a little bit of time Friday talking with Chuck Sweeny and Wally Haas about the upcoming mayoral election.

Haas expects independent incumbent Larry Morrissey to win in a fairly close race (not surprising considering our endorsement), but Sweeny wasn’t quite ready to pick a winner quite yet. Both expected a very low turnout.

Sweeny discussed a few recent columns he wrote about Democratic Candidate Doug Block, one asking for an explanation regarding recent tactics coming out of Block’s campaign, and another featuring Block’s response.
