When I meet with prospective adult students, many of them express concern or fear about going back to school because they simply do not want to fail. That is easy enough to understand. If you haven’t been in school for 10 or 20 years, heading back to the classroom can be daunting! Trial and error can be one of the best means of solving life’s problems. Yet, some individuals are afraid to undertake the trial because they are too afraid of experiencing the error. I admire those individuals that take the leap and go back and finish their degree. A result I commonly see of taking that leap is an amazing change in self-confidence. I see students at graduation who look and act completely different than the day they began the program. They are blooming with self confidence and pride that they faced a fear and have overcome it. It is truly a delight!
Rockford College offers a degree completion program for adult learners that aim to take away the fear of failure as a reason to not go back to school. The accelerated degree completion program is customized for students who may have been away from rigors of study for awhile. It is structured in small cohorts, usual 14 students, who support each other throughout their time in the program.
