RPS 205: Rockford Eisenhower Basketball Standout Wins IESA ‘Scholar Attitude’ Award

Kate Dennis’ goal is to play basketball for a Division I college. Her dream: play for Duke University. The Eisenhower Middle School eighth-grader has had her eyes on Duke since she got serious about basketball in fourth grade and attended a Duke University summer basketball camp on the Durham, North Carolina, campus. Around that time she had a growth spurt and grew nine inches in a year. The 13-year-old is 6 feet tall – “That’s what I’m told,” she says with a grin. Kate actually can’t stop smiling. Rockford East Campus Adds 90 Shrubs and Trees, Thanks to Student Work and Local Nursery

New Uniforms Give East High School Marching Band ‘Exactly What They Need’

Look for East High School’s marching band at Friday’s Homecoming parade and football game. Thanks to a generous donation from Naperville Central High School, the marching band will wear sharp red, black and white uniforms – drum majors will wear black and red – complete with hats and feather plumes. Naperville Central was looking for a place to donate 175 of their gently used uniforms to make room for new uniforms. The Marching Redhawks and the East E-Rabs wear the same colors, and East’s marching band uniforms date back to the 1990s. The...
