Students at Roosevelt Alternative High School have started on their Capstone projects, in-depth experiences in the community that will help them succeed after graduation. Capstones in the Rockford Public Schools combine theory with practice to demonstrate a high level of scholarship and college and career readiness. It’s crunch time for Capstone projects in the Rockford Public Schools. The Capstone combines theory and practice to demonstrate a high level of scholarship and readiness for college and careers. The Rockford Public Schools fine arts department is coming off a very busy start to the New Year. The All-City Art Exhibit will be closing this weekend at four venues. The exhibit has been on display since Jan. 11 and features artwork from Guilford, Auburn, Jefferson, East, Roosevelt and Wilson Aspire. Students come into Brian Hierstein’s classroom looking for an elective credit. A lot of them leave as artists. Hierstein teaches Art 1 at Roosevelt Alternative High School. Students drill down on manufacturing work

Students from all five high schools in the Rockford Public Schools got an up-close look at the work world during National Manufacturing Day. Each of 177 students who participated Oct. 1 visited two manufacturing companies in the region, including J.L. Clark, Rockford Toolcraft and SPX.
