Nancy Chamberlain is director of public relations at Rock Valley College and serves as the communications officer for the college. She’s been at RVC since 2003 and holds a B.A., in Liberal Studies-Communications from the University of Illinois. Prior to coming to Rock Valley College she worked in marketing communications and was a writer and editor for trade publications.
Nancy is a graduate of the Rockford Chamber’s Leadership Rockford program, a Golden Apple Foundation volunteer and a member of Alpine Rockford Kiwanis. She resides in Rockford with her husband, Mike, and their two children Steven and Lydia.
Dave Costello has worked as Publicist and Web Coordinator for Rock Valley College since 2006, splitting his duties between public relations, managing the content on the RVC web site, and coordinating the college’s social media efforts. He also chairs the Emergency Communications Committee for the college and serves on several other college committees, including the Sustainability Committee. Dave is a graduate of Rock Valley College and Illinois State University, where he majored in Public Relations.
Amy Diaz, M.S.Ed., is Associate Vice President of Student Development at Rock Valley College with responsibility for programs and services aimed at supporting students outside the classroom and in achieving their goals; admissions, academic advising, career and personal counseling, financial aid, first year experience and orientation, registration, transfer advising, and student life. Most of these programs are offered at main campus, at Stenstrom Center for Career Education, and RVC’s newest location, the Learning and Opportunity Center. Amy is working on her doctoral degree in Educational Psychology and has earned her Master’s degree in Counseling at Northern Illinois University and completed her BA in Secondary Math Education at the University of Iowa.
Suzanne Dooley, MSW has been with Rock Valley College for 8 years, beginning her RVC career at the Stenstrom Center for Career Education. She was employed at the SCCE from 2000 – 08, leaving in 2008 to complete her Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Illinois — Champaign/Urbana. She returned to Rockford and began her new role as the first director of the downtown campus, known as the Learning and Opportunity Center, in September 2010.
A public speaker and educator for several years, Suzanne has also compiled a variety of experience both serving as and training Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers and also as a medical advocate for rape crisis centers. She has further experience volunteering with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and those struggling with addiction and individuals with criminal backgrounds.
Suzanne’s experience not prepares her to provide case management to students dealing with such challenges, but also to speak to the implications of providing an educational facility that can work with people living with such life stressors. It also allows her to speak to the implications at the individual, familial, and community level.
Bernie Luecke, Director, Business & Professional Institute, has been a part of the Sales and Marketing profession for over 10 years working with Rockford businesses. The skill set that he brings to Rock Valley College Business & Professional Institute offers a wealth of business knowledge and understanding which supports and enhances the mission of BPI’s service to the community. In his first four months as Director, he launched a new Truck Driver Training Program, sold several training programs to area businesses and is host of the Chamber Breakfast Buzz, now permanently located at Rock Valley College.
Prior to joining Rock Valley College Business & Professional Institute, Bernie worked for 9 years as Sales and Marketing Manager with Giovanni’s Restaurant & Convention Center. He specialized in developing new marketing strategies while increasing profitability.
Bernie’s additional background includes positions with the Chamber of Commerce, Northwest Illinois JTPA, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Inc. He is an Iowa State University graduate with emphasis in training and development and is involved in several community organizations.
Pam Owens, CFRE, joined Rock Valley College in November 2010 as the Executive Director of the Foundation and College Advancement. In her role, she is responsible for the college’s fundraising initiatives, distribution of funds primarily through scholarships, grants to faculty, and capital projects as well RVC marketing and public relations.
Pam holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and is a Certified Fundraising Executive with 14 years of development leadership experience. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois.
Patrick Peyer is Director of Student Retention and Success at Rock Valley College. Patrick has 16 years of experience in higher education administration at two-year public, four-year public, and four-year private colleges and universities. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education, College Student Personnel and a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Secondary Education, both from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Cyndi Stonesifer is the Director of Financial aid at Rock Valley College. She has been at RVC for nearly 20 years, most of which has been in the financial aid office. Cyndi earned her bachelor degree in Management & Communications from Concordia University in 1997. Cyndi is active in several committees on campus and is currently the Professional Staff Association President. Outside of RVC Cyndi enjoys spending time with family, her dog and her horse.
