Over the years I've noticed a few needed things a cycleist needs. One is a loud horn, I have an air powered horn I use often on motorists that don't use turn signals. The second thing is lights and an orange flag on a mast or rod, It really helps to be seen. Another thing is bright clothing, I wear an orange jacket or in warm weather a refletive vest. The sad thing is many motorists are in a big hurry with a cell phone in one hand and food in the other to pay attention to what they are doing. I commute to work everyday on a bicycle.
