Hey, Larry! How about this?

Chicago is doing some nice things for its bicyclists. Do we have enough riders in Rockford to follow suit? Some of us would rather see the bike-lane striping begin.

All that i know is spring brook road was widened while i was in high school for people to walk and ride their bikes on and every day i drive on it the bikes our out in the road instead of a very wide shoulder meant for them to ride in.

and your answer, mr. mayor??? when will we see more bike paths and bike lanes??? it is hard, next to impossible, to get around town on a bike. studies have been/are being done, so when will the painting of bike lanes begin?? instead of p/u trash on sunday mornings, those who are completing public service commitments could, under supervision, paint bike lanes. well, your answer??

none of the roads are wide enough to add a bikes lane safely….. just use side streets and crosswalks.

It sounds like this idea’s been started by Rockford Blacktop. I’m sure they’d be in favor of widening all the streets in the city. That way they’ll be getting maximum use out of their spanking new asphalt plant.

I have lived in Chicago, Madison, and Boulder for most of my life. I grew up here, and find myself here again, but my bikes don\’t get anywhere near the use they did in those towns. I love Rockford, but I can\’t stand how dependent we are on our cars. We need more bike paths and bike lanes!

Why would we want bike lanes and sidewalks in this town? Isn’t it more fun to get clipped by mirrors and ride in the grass?

why not ride in the grass over half the bikes i see on the road are mountain bikes anyway… And learn to ride before you go on the streets, way to many i see can’t hold a line and are all over the place. If bikers want bike lanes raise some money , they don’t even have money to keep the roads we have, and if the city has money it should go to our schools which need it
