A Seat at the Table

More on gov and state parks

September 18th, 2008 at 10:51am Wally Haas

I may have jumped to a conclusion in the previous post about the governor and state parks. As Paul rightly pointed out, the article said the governor has not visited the parks slated to be closed. It doesn’t mean he hasn’t visited ANY state parks.

I sent an e-mail to Lucio Guerrero asking him whether the gov had been to any. Here’s his response:

That may be a tough one since there are hundreds. He’s a runner, so he’s visited many of them - especially around springfield, chicago and duquoin.

He’s also had official events at some.

Let me see what I can do. It might take awhile.

It seems pretty clear that he has been to some state parks. Is Guerrero trying to find out which ones? I don’t think anyone cares which ones… If he had never been to a state park, that would be news. If he has been, I don’t think it matters which ones (once it is established he hasn’t been to the ones slated to be closed).

Walter, you have a hatred for the governor that cannot be quenched. That is going to eat you up, son.

I’m not so sure. Just because he’s a runner doesn’t mean he’s set foot in a state park.

No, Mr. O’Neill, I don’t hate the governor. In fact, I think he’s smart and funny, but I do hate some of the things he’s done.
