OPEC chief says oil could go to $200 a barrel
April 28th, 2008 at 11:26pm Chuck Sweeny
Ageria’s oil minister, who heads OPEC, forecasts that oil will hit $200 a barrel because of the weak dollar and the U.S. recession, not because OPEC is holding back oil. Besides, he says the U.S. has record supplies of gasoline.
Isn’t it funny that this isn’t the main topic of discussion on TV news, in the papers and on talk radio? If his forecast is true, it spells disaster for the U.S. economy.
But the media have convinced us that the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s controversial sermons and his latest publicity tour are more important. Frankly, I’d like the media to explore solutions to this gasoline problem, not Barack Obama’s gasbag pastor problem.

Chuck,
I agree with you on this. But I find it funny you never complained about the press ignoring more important issues to concentrate on negative coverage of Hillary. You really do seem to be in LOVE with Barach Obama. I have nothing against him, but a man with your experience should know that politicians are pretty much all the same. There’s no reason to fall in love with any of them. They’ll all let you down. They all make terrible decisions to pander.

Dear Ike,
No, they’re not all the same, whatever your real name is.
I’ve learned from my many years of experience in this business that some pols, like the late Zeke Giorgi, Paul Simon and Everett Dirksen, are good, some, are so-so, some, like George Ryan and Rod Blagojevich, are downright awful.
Some are in it only to stroke their monumental egos, some are in it to improve their community, state or nation, some couldn’t find a real job, and some like to sleep a lot.
Politicians are a microcosm of the human race. That’s what I’ve learned from my years of experience.
