Sharon Stone blames China quake on bad karma over Tibet

May 27th, 2008 at 03:49pm Chuck Sweeny

Remember the comments of Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, who said in 2001 that we had become a wicked land, causing God to lift His safety net over America and allow the terrorist attacks of 9-11 to occur? Most of us dismissed such comments as ridiculous fear-mongering (and probably linked to a plea for money.)

Now there’s a New Age version of the same thing, only , as you might expect, it’s bad karma that’s punishing China. No less an authority than Sharon Stone (she of the famous leg-crossing scene) said it.

Asked by a Hong Kong TV crew if she’d heard of the earthquakes in China, our Sharon said of course, she had. She added,

“I’m not happy at how the Chinese are treating the Tibetans, because I don’t think anyone should be unkind to anyone else… They’re not being nice to the Dhali Lama, who is a good friend of mine. And then all this earthquake stuff happened, and I thought, is that karma, that when you’re not being nice, bad things happen to you?”

Chuck, have you heard any additional information on the Freeport Graduation bomb threat?

No. It’s not my turn to watch Freeport. I suggest you read our sister paper, the Freeport Journal-Standard.

Whay so snarky, Chuckles? The guy was just asking a question.

Chuck, when I asked there wasn’t anything in the Journal-Standard, so your suggestion — which I had already checked — didn’t matter.

Nice to see you interested in what is happening around the Stateline. Is there a schedule so we know when it is your turn to watch Freeport or any other bomb threats in the area?

I wasn’t rude, didn’t intend to be rude, I thought you might know something, being in the news business and all.

And Lawrence is right — you did seem snarky.

If your upset that I didn’t stick to commenting on what you posted then fine, I’ll follow the rules, but how do you expect to get new information with that rule — I didn’t sidetrack with a long diatribe — I sidetracked with local breaking news?

Comments from blog responders don’t bother me. AS to the Freeport graduation, it will go on, but inside, not outside, and security will be tight. People will have to have tickets. That’s according to a TV news report I heard tonight.

    Sharon Stone’s comment about Katrina.

News Reporter: Did you hear know about the typhoon in New Orleans?

Stone: Of cause I have. You know, it’s very interesting about that since first, I’m not happy about the way USA treats the Iraqis because I think anyone should not be unkind to anyone else. And so I am being very concerned about the election of the next president of the US and A, because we had not being nice to Saddam Hussein, who is a good friend of
mine. And Katrina typhoon ,and all the stuff happened, and I thought, is that Karma? When you’re not nice that the bad things happen. And then I got a letter from the Iraqi
Foundation that they want to go and be helpful. This made me cry. And they asked me if I will write a quote to that, and I said I would that it was a big lesson to me, that sometimes you have to learn to put your face down and be a dog to the person who aren’t nice to you. And that is a big lesson to me.
