I’m Running For Under Assistant West Coast Promotion Mann

A letter writer, Mr. Cecil, wants me to run for mayor of Rockford. And as I told you all in an earlier post, I’ll soon be eligible because Mayor Excellence has decided my subdivision will become part of his domain.
I’m flattered that the writer thinks I’m qualified, and I may be, technically. However, I’m not good at pandering. I’d say something politically incorrect within 2 minutes of taking office and soon have 276, or maybe 6, pickets marching on my front lawn.
I am, however, continuing in my quest to become Under Assistant West Coast Promotion Man.

You are a hero to many, Chuckles. You have a lot of votes out here. And you have the dead presidents on your side. I am sure George Washington will ring in soon.

While I am glad to see my idea is taking hold, I still see that Chuck is not taking it seriously. It’s disappointing. Until he changes his attitude, Karl, I am off the bandwagon.

I don’t know if anyone else noticed, but I want to be on record as recognizing Sweeny’s fine Rolling Stones reference, And don’t run for mayor, Chuck, or we won’t get to read your column anymore - but I’m sure you would have the people of Rockford under your thumb,
