Obama’s failure to explain Bill Ayers earlier could haunt him on Nov. 4

October 5th, 2008 at 04:17pm Chuck Sweeny

Barack Obama did a pret ty good job discussing his unusual past — including his teenaged drug use — in his autobiographies.

One thing he didn’t talk about was a man who he served on boards with in Chicago, William Ayers, the unrepentent 60s radical whose actions and views against the United States are abhorrent to anyone this side of the Taliban.

Obama’s failure to explain Ayers early on could cost him the election, as the McCain campaign tries to turn the campaign away from the sinking economy.

Palin hit Obama about Ayers on Sunday, and word from the McCain campaign is they’re going to hammer the Ayers assocition home. The only thing McCain has ruled out is bringing up Jeramiah Wright. No matter, the 527 groups will do that.

I agree that he should address it again, since the topic has reared it’s ugly head again. No matter what, there are still people who think he wasn’t born in the US, is a Muslim, etc., etc., etc., because they can’t find any real dirt on the guy. Wasn’t Obama like, 8 years old when Ayers did his deeds?

Barack Obama lived in the same area of Chicago as Ayers, and Ayers has been a politically active member of that community for years. Considering that, its actually remarkable how little the two have to do with each other. Early in his career, Obama attended one reception in his honor at Ayerss house. They also were separately asked by a charitable organization to serve on that organizations board. And thats it. Theres no friendship between the two, no relationship, no history of working together. This whole manufactured issue was already hashed over in the primary, but the Republicans, desperate to change the subject from the state of the United States and the unpopularity of their policies, are trying to revive this discredited attack once again. A shady Republican front group even ran ads trying to tie the 60s-era activities of Ayers to Al Qaeda today.

Someone with admitted political ambitions would have done well to have researched Ayers and steered clear of this nut job professor and his wife, the radical professor Bernardine Dohrn.

Barack’s career? What career? What important/significant piece of bipartisan legislation has he been the author of which has passed? He is the product of the Chicago political machine. Can you imagine that style of politics in Rockford? How about the executice office. Barack surrounded himself with Rev Wright and Rezko. Read his book. Barack’s supporters love his rhetoric and his story but do they really know the man? He wants everyone to feel like victims. How about personal responsibility? Fairness through socialism & higher taxes. Don’t blame Bush for everything. The Dems have controlled Congress for the last 2 years. The Dems blocked oversight of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae in 2005. Vote for Barack and watch government take more money from you and your family all for “fairness”.

Unfortunately the liberal media total ignores the whole situation or claims it\’s a right-wing conspiracy. They spent many weeks investigating Palin and found nothing to really stick. If they spent 1/10 the effort on Obama he would be gone. I can\’t believe people are taking Obama seriously at all. It\’s an American Idol thing i guess.

Chuck, Obama’s political career was launched in Ayers’ house. Obama thinks Ayers is “mainstream”, even though in a 2001 interview, Ayers said he wished he had done more (bombings).

But that is only part of what Obama, and the Leftist MSM, don’t want you to know. Please look this over, and let me know what you think. It should scare anyone with more than half a brain.

Ayers, Rezko, Wright and the Economy
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 10:34 AM

As more details emerge on the Obama-Ayers connection (here’s a short story from 1997 on Ayers that features both Obamas and which suggests that Michelle Obama organized the program that featured both Ayers and her husband), the Obama talking heads are hysterical with outrage, which is a clear signal to Team McCain to keep digging and swinging on the subject of Obama’s judgement. Just who, after all, does he intend to staff the 3,000 executive branch jobs with? Who will be at Defense and Justice and Treasury and State?.

The message also has to be targeted at the reality that the dizzying declines in the markets cannot be arrested and reversed with tax hikes and unemployment benefit extensions. Even as people shudder at the rapid decline in their savings and retirement accounts, they have to be trusted to know that anti-growth polices of the sort being pushed by Obama will simply drive business, jobs and growth overseas. A tax hike agenda of the sort pushed by Obama right now is economic suicide, and John McCain has to forcefully say so.

As I wrote on Friday, the crisis in the markets is just one of many factors working against doubling down on the Democrats who blew into town with majorities in the House and Senate in 2006. Obama, Pelosi and Reid are blaming Bush, but they have held the power for the past two years and the economic wreckage is everywhere to be seen, as is the spike in oil that was in part engineered by the Dems’ steadfast refusal to do anything about production for more than a decade. Part of today’s sell-off has also got to be the reaction of the business community to the prospect of Obama in power backed by a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. The full agenda of the modern left, never a realistic possibility in this country until this month, now seems possible if not plausible. Of course capital is scared and cash accumulating on the sidelines. The prospect of radical change is never comforting to investors.

The very panic that has caused the sell-off could also deeply damage Obama’s recent momentum. He is, after all, a complete rookie and without any executive experience in good times much less a crisis. Is the country really going to roll the dice on Ayers’ friend and neighbor and Rezko’s partner, so that he can team with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to redesign the American economy in the middle of a global financial crisis and a war?

You may find this interesting: http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/obama-and-the-woods-fund/

Why would any sane person vote for Obama, after reading these accounts? And why doesn’t the MSM cover this?
