Forget the stories that the election is over; McCain has even chance of winning
October 8th, 2008 at 12:55am Chuck Sweeny
The liberals in my business are at it again. Every MSM (mainstream media) outlet I read, seems to believe the election is all over, and Obama is already the winner. Measure the windows for new drapes, Michelle.
Too soon, too soon, folks.  I remember that  in 1994, when my Republican friends were telling me they would pick up 50 seats in the House, the MSM dismissed the thought. Wouldn’t happen, they said. Just Newty propaganda, they said. But Newt was right.
Look, this is a close election. McCain is a comeback kid — his campaign was declared dead in the summer  of 2007, but McCain kept slogging on.
The McCain campaign and its talk show lackeys have just begun the sliming of Obama. The attacks will get worse, and they are counting on enough slime to stick to eke out a McCain win.
When you add the sliming to the fact that a certain percentage of whites — even liberal ones — will never, ever  vote for a black man, I predict that McCain has a 50-50 chance of winning this election, bad economy or not.
For Obama, turnout — and where it comes from — is crucial. If newly registered young voters, and all black voters,, turn out in great numbers, Obama will win. If enough of them stay home, he loses.

I agree it will be a nail-biter; I think Obama will win because he is competitive in so many states. It will be a narrow popular vote victory, but a fairly solid electoral vote victory.

Chuck, were you up all night wondering who won the debate?
While I would hesitate before deciding who would win, coldhotel has a point - it will be the electoral votes that will matter. Public opinion will undoubtedly influence the decision, but in the end, that is all it will do.
My vote, such as it is, will go to Obama. McCain has attacked him on too many fronts where he himself is vulnerable to scrutiny. Considering how much lower some of his - and Palin’s - supporters have stooped with lies and innuendo, I cannot imagine it getting much dirtier than it already has become.
But I guess I’m liable to be surprised, yes?

The thing that still scares me is what you mentioned. I don’t know if this is what you meant or not, but here goes…
How many people who when asked in a semi-face to face mode (polls, etc.) will say that they would vote for Obama to avoid being seen as racist, but once they are in that anonymous voting booth, the deep seated prejudice that does still exist comes out. This is not an issue with young voters, as they have MUCH less prejudice than older voters. The problem comes in as younger voters are historically not very dependable, especially when things start getting nasty and divisive like McCain is starting to get.

If the MSM would do their REAL job (Unbiased reporting of the FACTS), and give the details of Obama’s ACORN/Ayres connection, and the millions he passed out to Far-Leftist groups, the public could make an informed decision for whom they are voting.

I also wonder about the “Bradley effect”; I think as time goes on it becomes less and less significant. I’ve always seen estimates of 4-5% (and I think it might actually be less), so if Obama maintains a lead of over 5% in the polls he has a pretty good shot of winning with about 50% of the popular vote. I don’t think Nader will be much of a factor this election

Blah blah blah. Obama is guilty as charged! Read these articles about our manufactured financial crisis, and Obama’s part in it. Everything in this article can be verified with a little internet sleuthing. No lies, no innuendo, just the facts mam, just the facts:
