Sweeny Report
The Sweeny Report takes you into the murky world of local, state and national politics. Political Editor Chuck Sweeny will try to de-mystify things for you — once he figures it out himself, that is.

Where do we go to get our reputation back?

Where do we go to get our reputation back? Land of Lincoln, I mean. Currently we are Land of Sleaze.

The New York Times provides the latest dose of shame in this editorial:

I particularly enjoyed the ending: “The state’s Senate seat cannot be filled fairly by such a discredited blowhard.”

The citizens of Illinois deserve a special election to choose their next senator. The democrats have displayed their inability to do anything right. They cant even run an impeachment panel effectively. Any trial in the senate will take months so Blago isnt going anywhere. The House could pass provisions next week to set up a special election in the municipal primaries which will be held in a month. WE NEED A SPECIAL ELECTION! Oh, and for those who whine about the little amount of money it would cost, this democrat scandal has already cost Illinois taxpayers over $20 million because of a lower bond rating on the interest paid on the state debt. That twenty million could have paid for a lot of good things here in the Rockford area. What a catstrophic mess!
