The Don Manzullo Show: In this episode, Don lets treasury secretary have it, kerpowie!!!

March 27th, 2009 at 10:59am Chuck Sweeny

In what’s becoming somewhat of a pattern, U.S. Rep. Don Manzullo, R-Egan, let Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner have a piece of hiw wrath Thursday, live, on national TV. Earlier in the week he raged on TV to Federal Reserve chief Ben Bernanke, and a few years ago he unleashed his temper on former Fed Chief Alan Greenspan. And there’s the YouTube sensation of Don giving the what-for to that guy in charge of the the Troubled Assets Relief money.

Here’s how the Washington Post reported Thursday’s tempest:

Rep. Manzullo to Geithner: Your Plan Is ‘Radical’

In testimony before the House Financial Services committee that just adjourned, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner just had to defend his institutional takeover plan against charges of radicalism.

“Do you realize how radical your proposal is?” Rep. Donald Manzullo (R-Ill.) asked.

“It’s not radical. . .” Geither began, before Manzullo interrupted him.

“You’re talking about seizing private businesses and you don’t consider that radical?” Manzullo replied, his voice rising.

Manzullo is trying to get Geithner to give details of the plan — that’s where Geithner got stung before — but Geithner doesn’t have them yet.

If the plan were not radical, Manzullo said to Geithner, “you would have answers to some of my questions, such as, what size business would be subject to this?”

Don Manzullo accusing someone else of proposing radical ideas?
That’s like the pot calling the kettle black.

What could be more radical than Manzullo’s plan, proposed to a group of his disciples at a political rally in 1996, to turn our country into “a nation of one culture, one people, one ideology, one voice” (Northwest Herald, 19 Jan 1996)?

And then there is Manzullo’s unswerving devotion to Chinese Communist tyranny, despite their abhorrent policies of forced abortion, brutal religious and political persecution, and espionage directed against our national security: What could be more radical than that?

Think about it: Thanks to trade policies championed by Manzullo every man, woman and child in this country now owes Communist China approx. $3,000 and pays approx. $80/year to service that debt. That amounts to nothing less than a radical transformation of our country’s position in the world, all thanks to commie-loving capitalist crackpots like our Dishonest Don.

Forty years ago, 59,000 of our age-mates, Mr. Sweeny, died fighting in Vietnam allegedly to defeat or contain communist tyranny.

So what? Ever since he was elected to Congress, Don Manzullo has done his best to promote, strengthen, subsidize and militarize these same commie tyrants. Is that radical enough for you?

Neither you nor none of your professional colleagues has EVER demanded that Manzullo explain his radical ideas and activities.

If you ever found the testicular fortitude to do so, I am absolutely certain that Manzullo would pull the same stonewalling tricks that Geithner has used to sell his snake oil.

But I know now that Manzullo, the holy Christian hypocrite, will never in this life have to explain his perverse and radical ideas and activities as long as he faithfully serves the wealthy bigots who contribute millions of dollars to his re-election campaigns.

    What a great system!!

RedRover, I think your hatred for one individual overwhelms you. If anyone believes that Rep. Manzullo has “unswerving devotion to Chinese communist tryanny,” they ought to have their head examined. You may be surprised to learn that every President since Jimmy Carter supported these same trade policies. Do you reserve the same venom for them? Regardless, Rep. Manzullo has been a thorn in the side of the Chinese on many trade issues — he’s been in the forefront in trying to stop the Chinese from manipulating their currency; he has endorsed and voted for bills that urges our government to press the Chinese to live up to their World Trade Organization commitments (which recently bore fruit when the WTO ruling against the Chinese in the auto parts case); and he’s helped three northern Illinois companies combat illegal Chinese trade practices, including Aqua-Aerobics right here in Rockford with intellectual property piracy that has all been publicly documented. So, stop with the vindictive attacks and let’s discuss issues in a rational manner without all this invective poison and name-calling that doesn’t contribute anything to the discussion. Frankly, I’m surprised that RedRover’s post was published with all this name calling.

    Hey Pete,

If you voted for Don Manzullo,
Then you voted for forced abortion in China.

If you have done business with any Chinese company and thereby made a profit for that evil government,
Then you have funded their forced abortion and other brutal totalitarian policies.

I despise every last advocate of these evil trade policies. They have created a monster and are now feeding it their children and grandchildren. May they all burn in Hell with their holy Jesus!

Finally, one question: The trade policies that Manzullo and all his fellow Christian-nazi corporate prostitutes of both parties aupport has brought huge profits to a totalitarian communist government, and you think that’s fine, right Pete?

Well, why the hell did we fight wars in Korea and Vietnam and kill millions of innocent human beings?

Why the hell did I and so many others have to ruin our youths by participating in those criminal acts against innocent Vietnamese, Laotians, Cambodians and Koreans?

RedRover, your recent post/rantings makes my case. I don’t think the people working at various aerospace firms in Rockford are complicit in human rights abuses just because they sell a product that eventually winds up in a Boeing aircraft sold to China.

Let’s set the record straight — I looked up Rep. Manzullo’s record on the National Right to Life website. It shows a 100 percent rating. In fact, I saw that he recently signed a letter with 179 of his other colleagues to the Democratic leaderhsip of the House of Representatives urging them to keep all the pro-life riders in the annual spending bills, so that taxpayer dollars are not used to fund abortions. This includes the ban on federal funding going to international organizations that directly or indirectly supports or condones abortion as a method of family planning. This is more commonly known as the “Mexico City” policy instituted by President Reagan. This policy has prohibited federal funds to go to entites such as the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) that helped started and continues to support China’s coercive one-child-per-family policy.

Looking at www.thomas.gov, I discovered that Rep. Manzullo voted on June 21, 2007 for an amendment to the spending bill for the State Department to reinstate the Mexico City policy after it had been removed by the House Appropriations Committee. However, President Obama issued a memorandum to the Secretary of State on January 23, 2009 nulllifying the Mexico City policy. In response, Rep. Manzullo co-sponsored H.R. 708 to permanently reinstate the Mexico City policy.

So, please, RedRover, don’t assign people to Hell because they have a different opinion on how to accomplish the same goal; please think about what you say before you write it.

Manzullo has met and glad-handed with the dictators who enforce Red China’s forced abortion policies.

Manzullo has acted in ways that he knows bring huge profits to these same baby-killing dictators.

Therefore, he is guilty of forced abortion by proxy.

Either you believe in the sanctity of life for all, or you do not respect the lives of any.

If Manzullo really opposed abortion, he would cut off all his friendly relations with the infanticidal Chinese government and demand publically that no further trade with that government be conducted until they ceased enforcing and repealed their murderous policies.

But he won’t do that because, like most Christians, he is a coward and a hypocrite.

Life matters to me, Pete. Does it really matter to you?

Your posts just keep reinforcing my initial comment. You don\’t win arguments with our neighbors who read this blog by insulting their faith and calling other people names. Please stop — you are embarrasing yourself.

  • 7. RedRover  |  April 1st, 2009 at 11:54 am

My so-called “embarrasing” postings are nothing to what the innocent people of China suffer every day at the hands of the dictators that Manzullo and others in this country support and legitimize.

You can’t get that, Pete, because you have been brainwashed to believe that America is now and always has been incapable of evil.

The evidence to the contrary is simply overwhelming. America was founded by evil racist Christian murderers and continues to be run by them. Look at what they did to the Indians they dispossessed and the Africans they enslaved.

Four centuries later, nothing has really changed. And, as a result, innocent people suffer, Pete.

I am not here to win any arguments. I am here to bear witness to the truth.

And the simple truth is this: Manzullo supports dictators who bring immense suffering to millions of innocent people, and he does it all for money.

I may be embarrasing, Pete, but Manzullo and his followers are shameful.

Wow. If you really think there has been no progress in America on racial issues since 1607, then who was that person taking the oath of the office of the President of the United States last January? Every person is capable of evil for “we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” I though would rather live in America where we have the opportunity to change the direction of the country through the ballot box than live in a places like Burma or Zimbabwe which are ruled by cruel dictators who lost an election and will not give up power.
