Sheffield: So far, so good

It’s refreshing indeed to read that incoming Rockford Schools Superintendent LaVonne Sheffield will clean house at the cabinet level. Three longtime administrators are not being given a role in the new cabinet, including Chief Operating Officer Tom Hoffman.
Sheffield is keeping Colleen Cyrus and Pam Laughlin on the cabinet team, and that’s good, because they bring continuity. But the new superintendent is sending a strong signal that she will be the boss and set policy. It won’t be a group superintendency.
So far, so good.
