Mayor Morrissey, in an attempt to cut costs as the city continues to see revenues fail to meet expenses, wants to end the long practice of the city subsidizing library workers’ pensions. The library has a separate levy from the city, and Morrissey says the library will have to make do with the $6.7 million that brings in. Cost of pension subsidy: $683,000.
