Now Lisa’s out of the gov’s race, who’d make the best governor

The politics mavens are all agog over AG Lisa Madigan’s decision to seek re-election in 2010 instead of running for the U.S. Senate or governor.

So, now that Lisa’s decided, we can get ready for the March of the Wannabes, headed by a gaggle of DuPage GOP’ers.

Excuse me, but it’ll take a while — like A YEAR — for me to be excited. Who wants to be captain of  the RMS Titanic? Oops, I forgot. The Titanic is California. We’re the RMS Lusitania, it’s 1915, and the German U-boat “Steuerzahler” is lurking in the waters below. (If you know German, you’ll understand what the name means. If you don’t, guess. I’ll tell you the answer in a new posting, in a little while, or when I get around to it.)

So, what are your thoughts? Who would you support for governor? Who’d make the best possible governor for Illinois, regardless of whether he or she would actually run?
