Read the new, House of Reps. health care bill, all 1,990 pages worth

Want to read the new, House of Representatives health care bill? It was just introduced today. The new bill has nearly doubled in page-count from the old one. The new bill, which does contain a mild version of a public option, is a whopping 1,990 pages.

And if you have a free weekend and nothing to do, here’s a link so you can read it yourself:

The new 600 pages contain tons of specific earmarks to buy each Democrat Representative’s votes. Sickening isn’t it? So much for a thorough, non-partisan discussion to get the best plan. Bottom line, millions will pay nothing and receive brand new full health insurance while millions of families will pay $1000-$2000 MORE per year even though they are happy and want nothing to do with it. So much for “keeping your own plan if you are happy with it” like Obama promised. More income redistribution from Barack Obamarx. Trillions more.

I haven’t read it. I don’t plan to. Let’s face it, who has time to read 1990 pages of legalese? I seriously doubt that even those voting on it (for OR against) will read it.

I am against this bill for many idealogical reasons (based on news reports of the contents) but to me the biggest reason is the “public option”. I personally feel it is the wrong way to go, and passing laws that require Americans to get insurance is inane in my mind. Let alone the concept of forcing many American’s to pay even more than they already are to provide this health care for others.

Whether or not you have insurance, you can and will get quality care. I have first hand experience with this. As the result of a car accident, I was required to have spinal surgery to address the total destruction of the disc at L4-L5 and the fracturing of the disks above and below that (a procedure called a Laminectomy and Discectomy), as well as fractured ribs, Sternum, and Clavicle. I had no insurance at that time, yet I received excellent care from skilled and caring doctors at Swedish American hospital and the Associated Neurosurgeons of Rockford (Dr. Charles Wright preformed the surgery and did excellent work). Did I incur a massive expense from this? Yes. Did all of those medical groups know, long before going into surgery/providing care that I did not have the means to pay the over $80,000 in bills? Yes. Did they provide that care anyway? Yes. They billed me, and we worked it all out after the fact. At NO point did I go without medical care because I lacked insurance.

It is a fallacy that Americans without insurance will not receive medical care if they go to the ER and ask for it. Is it better to have insurance? Absolutely. But I am sick and tired of hearing about people “dying in the streets” because they don’t have insurance. If they are, then it is their CHOICE to not seek treatment.

On a side note, wouldn’t it be refreshing for there to be a Congressional rule (or even better a law) REQUIRING “clean bills” only. No riders, no hand outs, pay offs, bridges people don’t need, etc, attached to buy votes. Make each and every bill separate and clean. Sadly, they will NEVER do such a thing because then there would be accountability on a per issue basis, and no weasel room. AKA, no “playing politics”. BOTH parties are too entrenched in the current system to accept, let alone push for, any real type of Congressional reform. Forget health care, THAT’S where we need real reform.

I would love a non-partisan think tank (yes, there are a few out there) to have the time to read this “document”, and prepare a briefing or primer for the common man on what is and isn’t included in this current rendition of the Health Care legislation. No hysteria, no lies, no “mis-communications”. Again, never going to happen.

Obama, and the Democrat ruled Congress are out of control. They have got to be stopped in the next election! The RRStar should press Senator Durbin to come to Rockford and hold an open, public, town hall meeting to discuss this legislation.
